Objective
To successfully install Google Tag Manager into a Squarespace website to track website analytics and performance.
Key Steps
- Access the admin console in Google Tag Manager and login to the Squarespace website.
- In Google Tag Manager, navigate to the admin section.
- Click on “Install Google Tag Manager” and select the Squarespace account.
- In the Squarespace account, go to the website settings and click on “Code Injection.”
- Copy the top section code from Google Tag Manager and paste it into the header section in Squarespace.
- Copy the second code from Google Tag Manager and paste it above any other code in the footer section in Squarespace.
- Save the changes in Squarespace.
- Check if the changes are published on the Squarespace website.
- Return to Google Tag Manager, go to the workspace, and click on “Preview.”
- Paste the website URL into the preview section to check if the Google Tag Manager is connected.
- Ensure that the Tag Assistant shows as connected on the website to confirm successful installation.
