Objective:
To successfully install Google Tag Manager into a WordPress website to track and manage website analytics.
Key Steps:
- Ensure you have admin access to your WordPress website and have your Google Tag Manager account set up.
- In your Google Tag Manager account, navigate to Admin and then select Install Google Tag Manager.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins and search for “WP Code.” Install and activate the WP Code plugin.
- Access the Code Snippets section within WP Code plugin.
- Copy the Google Tag Manager code from your Google Tag Manager account.
- Paste the code in the Header section within the Code Snippets.
- Paste the code in the Body section within the Code Snippets.
- Save changes in the Code Snippets.
- Go back to Google Tag Manager and type in the website where you added the code.
- Click on Test. If you see a green checkmark, it means the code is successfully running.
- If the green checkmark is not visible, wait for a few hours and try again. If issues persist after 24 hours, contact Creekside Marketing for assistance.
Cautionary Notes:
- Ensure you have the correct permissions and access to both the WordPress website and Google Tag Manager account.
- Double-check the placement of the Google Tag Manager code in the Header and Body sections to avoid any errors.
